Today it is more common to use biometrics to identify people or devices, to entrance certain area or to use IT equipment. ESKON has been developing and implementing systems based on fingerprint identification already for more than 10 years.
Our biometric readers are based on the uniqueness of each person’s papillary lines. When identifying, the scanned fingerprint is compared to the fingerprint pattern stored in digital form.
This method is modern, secure and the data are maintained and processed according to personal data protection requirements. In the BIS® database, we only store reference templates. These are processed by mathematical operations prior to their storage so that they are not readable or retrofitable. According to the current Statement of the Office for the Protection of Personal Data and the Working Group (WP29) within the European Commission, the processing of such templates can not be considered as processing of biometric data. This is not a sensitive data (according to Act 101/2000 Coll. On the Protection of Personal Data) nor a special category of personal data (GDPR).
Readers EP400* also allow dual ID reading and biometrics.
